Hi, my name is Bessie and I'm the longest-term resident here at the shelter! More than four whole years...can you believe it? Although I am very happy at this lovely place where everyone loves me and spoils me, I still ponder over what it would be like to finally be in a real home. Why am I still here you may ask? Well, I need to be in a home where I can enjoy my own space without animal roommates, and to some humans I guess I may appear "scary looking." However, anyone that knows me will say I'm far from scary! Despite my appearance, I am the sweetest 6-year-old, 60-pound pup that loves my humans with all of my heart. Giving kisses are my favorite pastime and your face will be clean once I'm done showering you with love! Don't even get me started on toys. Pigs that make silly squeaky noises, Nyla bones, and sea creature stuffies, - I love it all! If you adore shopping for dog toys, I may be the perfect pooch to shop for. Not only do I love playing with toys, but I also am a huge fan of going along on adventures! Every week, a volunteer breaks me out of my kennel to bring me on a peaceful hike, where I enjoy duck watching and a casual stroll through beautiful scenery. If I'm lucky, I may get a pup cup after, which is my absolute favorite part of the trip! Even though I love a good hike, believe me when I say that I'm actually pretty lazy. Lounging on the couch (if you let me) and curling up in my comfy bed all tucked in are just some of the lazier activities I appreciate in life. I have the most splendid personality (words taken from staff and volunteers), and I constantly hear everyone talk about how lucky someone will be to have me in their life! Beautiful, affectionate, playful, goofy, well-trained, intelligent - the list goes on and on. I know deep in my heart that my perfect match is out there, and I will be the happiest pup on planet Earth when I find them! Will you be the one?
