Chicken

Meet Chicken, the independent 3 year old male Chihuahua mix seeking a forever home with a very experienced adopter. This 6.7 pound pup is small but mighty! His big personality tends to stand out and he needs someone who understands his quirks. Chicken has been at a training facility receiving training while also being able to stay at home with the trainer and her personal dogs. He is looking for someone who knows dog behavior and is familiar with body language when it comes to dogs. Chicken is unsure when meeting strangers and will bite if he is uncomfortable in a situation where someone doesn't respect his boundaries. He will always be this way with new people, however once he accepts you, a bond will develop. Chicken is not what you'd call a "lap dog" and is more independent, but he will cuddle up next to you or sit in your lap when he wants to. He is more of a little adventurer and loves going for pack walks and exploring new hiking trails. Chicken is great off leash and has a recall, and he also walks fabulous on a leash. He is a drivey little pooch and loves to play, as well as eat! In terms of behavior, Chicken is a dominant dog and will take advantage of people if they show weakness or hesitation. He can be touchy in certain situations and will need someone who learns his behavior and is comfortable with a dog who has some behavioral issues. Chicken does resource guard his food and valuable treats, so he is being fed in a crate (which should continue). His ideal home is with someone who is active, experienced, has a more calm environment, and the less people in the home, the better (no children). Chicken ideally needs a home with someone who has another dog, preferably a friendly dog around his size that he can play with.
